2023 LISTENING@LAKEMBA REPORT

Listening@Lakemba is a community program that has been undertaken with the community in Lakemba in 2011, 2017 and most recently in 2023. It is a partnership between Canterbury City Community Centre (4Cs), WESTIR Ltd and TAFE Bankstown. These organisations have been partners during all these years, to ask the residents and community members of Lakemba about what they like in their area, and what they think that their needs are.

It culminates in a community forum where residents attend, to discuss the findings, develop actions and direct 4Cs community development planning. Over all the iterations of this project, Lakemba is evidenced as one of the most CALD diverse suburbs in NSW. 4Cs states that the Project’s success is due to their enduring partnership with WESTIR Ltd and TAFE NSW.

This community program is funded under the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, Targeted Earlier Intervention Program.
